Like many men in Singapore, I spent most of my twenties and early thirties believing that success came down to one thing—working harder. Longer hours. Bigger goals. More responsibility. For a while, that mindset worked. I was building my career, achieving milestones and constantly chasing what came next. But somewhere along the way, I realised I had become so focused on moving forward that I had stopped checking in with myself. I wasn't falling apart, but I wasn't feeling grounded either. The pressure, the constant noise and the feeling that there was always another goal to chase had quietly become normal. Around that time, a friend handed me a piece of Black Tourmaline and simply said, "Keep it with you." I smiled, thanked him and honestly didn't think much of it. I had never considered myself someone who believed in crystals. But curiosity has always been one of my strengths, so I started reading. One article became another. One book led to the next. What began as simple curiosity slowly grew into a genuine passion for understanding why crystals had been valued by different cultures for centuries. The deeper I explored, the more I realised there was far more to this world than I had imagined. That journey eventually led me to become a Certified Crystal Healer—not because I wanted to become a guru, but because I wanted to study the practice properly, understand it with integrity and share it responsibly. Along the way, I also had the privilege of working with clients through crystal bodywork sessions. Every person came with different challenges, different goals and different life experiences. Those sessions reminded me that no two journeys are ever the same, and they continue to influence the way I curate every guangByJT functional wearable today. As I learned more about the crystal industry, I noticed something else. Most crystal brands didn't feel like they were speaking to men like me. The language often felt overly mystical.
